GREETINGS FROM YOUR SECRETARY GENERAL

The 54th NACDS Annual Meeting in 2013, will explore three historic regions with vibrant cultures, starting in Barcelona with the Catalans, moving on to San Sebastian and the Basques, and ending in Porto, Portugal and the Douro river estuary. These three environs offer varied scenery and we have selected three world famous hotels. Our gastronomic experiences will include discovering a wide variety of tapas, including Jamon Iberico, or pintxos, as they are called in the Basque country, Portuguese bacalua, the Michelin three star restaurants in San Sebastian, and, of course, port tasting.

The President's Reception at the  "Can Travi Nou" in Barcelona and the Annual Banquet in the 18th century Factoria Inglesa in Porto, should be highlights of the trip.

Nino Benedetto is preparing another outstanding scientific program, with visits to universities in Barcelona and Porto.

This will be one of the most interesting and enjoyable NACDS meetings. Barbara and I hope you will join us for the meeting and also consider the pre trip in Morocco, and / or the post trip to Bordeaux / Dordogne.

Richard Spielvogel, M.D.
Secretary General, NACDS
